silicomanganese is a type of ferroalloy which combines silicon, manganese, and iron. It is commonly used as a deoxidizer and desulfurizer in producing steels. The difference between such ferroalloy and others is the low carbon content, this makes it ideal for being used in low-carbon and high-strength steels.
Characteristics
One of the main features of silico manganese 6517 is the excellent ability to remove impurities from iron and steel. As a deoxidizer, it helps eliminating oxygen from the alloy, reducing the risk of porosity and other defects. As a desulfurizer, it can help removing sulfur from the alloy, because the sulfur can cause brittleness and impede weldability.
Another key attribute of the alloy is the high manganese content. Manganese is known for its ability to increase the hardness and tensile strength of steel. When added to the alloy, it can significantly improve the durability and wear resistance of the final product.
Products Grades
The normally used grades is FeMn60Si14 and FeMn65Si17.Mn65 means the containing content of Manganese is 65% min.and Si17 stands for the containing rate of silicon is 17% min.
